How to clarify your direction in life

“I have no clue what I want to do with my life.” This is the number on comment I hear on a weekly basis.

Satisfaction and clarification are two of the most important pieces to a happy, healthy life. But when we have zero clue what we’re even aiming for, you can forget happy/healthy.

Here’s my best piece of advice if you’re feeling uncertain or unsatisfied: stop trying to imagine the future.

Instead, look to your past by taking these 3 easy steps:

How to clarify your direction in life woman pondering life and reflecting

Close your eyes and think about a core memory when you were fully present…

You felt joy in your body.

You felt alive.

You felt free.

Now, describe the memory out loud (or on paper).

What talents were you using?

Who were you with?

What actions were you taking?

What makes that memory so significant?

Consider your answers to above, clues. Clues that have been scattered to the wind, sprinkled across your life. Clues that have the opportunity to breathe a new life, new career, and new relationships.

Finally, ask yourself “How can I bring elements of that experience back into my life?”

Thanks to your past memories, you’ll be surprised at what a bright, beautiful life you can build ahead.
